We are the product of a collective shift in perspective - an experiment in pushing the boundaries of
being aware of ourselves and those around us. Thoroughbred South African, and
loving it. We started in 2007, so we're a young company, and we're young people, but being young has
its advantages: we can change rapidly and dynamically and adapt to the new mindsets of the up-and-coming
creative geniuses in our industry.
history
bluntchisel was started by Roeland van Nieuwkerk and Thane Thomson. The name bluntchisel
only has relevance to what we do in how arbitrary and creative it is.
the heart
We're also rethinking the way business is done, and we're about to flip the corporate machine
on its head. Life should be alive, dynamic, adaptable - everything that the corporate machine is not.
We are not artists, engineers, programmers, businesspeople or receptionists - we are human beings.
And bluntchisel is just a label, a calling sign, that'll allow you to identify the places,
people and products we've touched.
We are strongly opposed to the false sense of security that a fixed salary provides - here, you define
your own salary by how much you work and the type of work you do. You also get the credit for the
work you've done. Our heart is not only to provide outstanding quality of work, but also to be a
conduit for young entrepreneurs where they can gain experience in their particular fields of
expertise. Hopefully, they will be able to forge on to start their own businesses one day, and we'll
be doing business with them - continuing to make great products.
location
At the moment, bluntchisel is based in Midrand, in the Gauteng province in South Africa, and we
are looking at moving to Pretoria by the last quarter of 2008.
graft
You will never work for us - you will only ever work with us. It might look like the same
thing on the surface, but we guarantee you that the heart is different. Want to graft with us? Drop us
an e-mail from our contact us page and we'll get back to you with details on how to apply. We're
building up a skills pool from which we're going to be sourcing talented individuals for all our
various jobs, and work here is picking up pace quite rapidly.
